Right-to-Know (Open Records)

Attorney Schnee literally wrote "the book" on the Right-to-Know Law and has written or edited over 10,000 final orders issued by the Office of Open Records. Attorney Schnee regularly assists clients with obtaining access to governmental records and with appeals.

Sunshine Act (Open Meetings)

The Sunshine Act governs access to governmental meetings. Attorney Schnee regularly litigates Sunshine Act issues on behalf of clients seeking to hold governmental agencies accountable. 

Guardianship

When a person is need of a substitute decisionmaker due to mental incapacity, a guardianship (where a person is appointed to make financial and personal decisions for that person) may be needed. Attorney Schnee has represented clients in guardianship matters since 2016.

Mental Health Expungements

Attorney Schnee represents clients in mental health expungement matters where individuals are involuntarily committed under the Mental Health Procedures Act and seek to restore their firearm rights.

Municipal Law

Attorney Schnee has practiced municipal law since 2009, having represented a variety of governmental entities. Attorney Schnee currently serves as the Solicitor for Exeter Township in Berks County.  

General Litigation

Admitted to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Courts for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania, Attorney Schnee represents individuals and organizations in state and federal courts in civil rights, employment and other matters.

Meet the team

A seasoned attorney with more than a decade of experience, J. Chadwick (“Chad”) Schnee has served clients in a wide variety of matters, including, among others, labor and employment law matters, municipal issues, Right-to-Know, Sunshine Act and guardianship matters. 

His successful litigation strategies have been hailed as “innovative” in the Philadelphia Inquirer, and Chad has appeared on the Megyn Kelly Show and various radio programs to discuss his work advocating for the rights of citizens and governmental transparency. 

Attorney Schnee is based out of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, but has litigated matters throughout Pennsylvania.
